Glossary
Mass fraction | Mass number | Melting point | Meter | Molalitet | Molar mass | Molar volume | Mole

Mass fraction
Mass fraction (wB) is the ratio of the mass of substance B to the total mass of a mixture.
 wB =  mB
 sigmami

Mass number
Mass number (A) is a characteristic property of a specific isotope of an element, equal to the sum of the number of protons and neutrons in the nucleus.

Melting point
Melting point is the temperature at which the solid and liquid phases of a substance are in equilibrium at a specified pressure (normally taken to be atmospheric unless stated otherwise).

Meter
Meter is the length of the path travelled by light in vacuum during a time interval of 1/299 792 458 of a second.

Molalitet
Molality (b) is a measure of concentration of a solution in which one states the amount of substance (i.e., number of moles) of solute per kilogram of solvent. The standard SI units are mol kg-1.
bA =  nA
 mO

Molar mass
Molar mass is the mass of one mole of a substance. It is normally expressed in units of g/mol, in which case its numerical value is identical with the molecular weight (relative molecular mass).

Molar volume
Molar volume is equal to the atomic weight divided by the density.

Mole
Mole (mol) is the amount of substance of a system which contains as many elementary entities as there are atoms in 0.012 kilogram of carbon 12 (12C). When the mole is used, the elementary entities must be specified and may be atoms, molecules, ions, electrons, other particles, or specified groups of such particles.
