REACH CROATIA
By air

Croatia has eight major airports: Zagreb, Split, Dubrovnik, Pula, Rijeka (on the island of Krk), Zadar, Brac and Osijek. You'll almost certainly be flying to one of the first five.

By Bus/Coach

There are coach services from all nearby European countries - Slovenia, Italy, Austria and Germany, Czech Republic and Switzerland - into Croatia. You'll certainly be able to travel by bus to Zagreb - Zagreb Bus Terminal has a website on which you can check arrival timetables.

Travelling by coach is probably one of the cheapest ways of reaching Croatia, although perhaps not the quickest or the most comfortable!

Coach Travel In Europe
See the Eurolines website for ticket and timetable information for travel from your home country and Europe-wide.

By train

It is certainly possible to travel by train from elsewhere in Europe to Croatia. The main destinations you can reach by rail are Zagreb, Pula, Rijeka and Split. In the case of the latter, however, you'll definitely have to travel via Zagreb. If you're travelling from northeast Italy - Venice and Trieste - this can add on quite a few hours to your journey, in which case it is better to travel by bus.

A great website to research train travel in Europe is the Die Bahn website. You can search for timetables for practically any journey in Europe, including journeys internal to Croatia.

By air

Split is fantastically well served by air from Zagreb with Croatia Airlines, British Airways, Easyjet and Wizz Air flights from London.

By bus and train

There are several trains a day from Zagreb - following track improvements in the past few years to allow for fast tilting trains, this journey time has now been reduced to about 5 hours and 30 minutes. The Die Bahn website is great for train times. There are also many, many buses per day from Zagreb and elsewhere in Croatia to Split. See the Zagreb Bus Terminal website for timetable details.
